Description
In between doing Trigun cosplay, I ventured into doing Meteor Methuselah - Rain Jewlitt. This little-known manga is still today one of my favorites even though I'm not sure if it's ever going to be continued and finished in the USA. This isn't Rain's first outfit but actually his 'captured' coat. In the first few books he wears a black coat and a bowler-type hat, carrying around a violin. (I've actually seen a cosplay of that done before and it was really good - however, I don't have a violin!)
The funny thing about Rain is that depending on what book cover you look at, he's got about three different hair colors - blond, green and pink. I went with pink (to go with the coat).
I'm not posting the front of this outfit because it SHOULD be a one-piece black jump-suit type thing, but I didn't have that. But...the coat turned out really great and I hand-sewed the black cross on the back, the arms, and the little extra black straps on the wrists. I wore large black boots to finish it out (I know, you can't see it, these are old photos so I can't have everything...).
The pink hair is my natural length, dyed like crazy to get the color - pity it wasn't at thorough as I would have liked - but I still wish I could have pink hair again, it was worth having it that color for a few weeks for this cosplay!
Didn't get many who recognized me in this one. Mostly people would come up, say I was someone else, take my picture and move on. Or maybe I'd say who I was and they'd remember. Most of the time they'd just give me this blank stare as if to say "I don't read manga, is it an anime?"
Debuted at Youmacon 2005, reworn at 2006, and I think worn various other weekends since but with blond hair.

It's nice to see the rare few people doing Meteor Methuselah (or Immortal Rain) cosplays. I just wish I could see more of them, particularly some of the other characters, as I have seen a select few Rain's and Machika's but not really any of the others. My hope is to try and finish working on Zol from the Meteor Methuselah side story Touhou Shinigami: Meteor Methuselah Gaiden (or Meteor Methuselah: Shinigami of the East to debut this year for the 2011 season....
